These places are all over the,EBT,WIC, Welfare zones.check cashing places, rent to own appliances, payday loan places, are heavy in the low income areas. Any place, you see bodegas,or signs,"we take WIC".When i was driving piles for Trump Towers on upper west side, NYC,a blue armored van with little tinted windows and little openings showed up every thursday(i wonder who owned it,and who they payed off to be there? Any guesses, lol.),parked right next to the roach coach at lunch time,i think it was $5.00 on a hundred they charged.the line was 50 /75 guys easy. the dope fiends had their dealers waiting right by the gate.easy come ,easy go.made for a fun afternoon, especially the time they all bought Morphine lolly pops ment for cancer patients, around 2pm they started falling over.i had to ban lolly pops.
No wonder i had ulcers.

I think payday lending is a con, but I don't have much sympathy for people stupid enough to patronize them.

Gentlemen let me educate you on my first hand experiences with pay day lenders. After 22 years of buying scratch tickets and never winning I contacted a pay day lender to buy rims for my 1994 Camry. My gurl Shaniqua bon qui qui , now she be razzing about the rims on my ride. I say to to Shaniqua - Gurl what I gotta do to get some respect from you? And she say Dashaun( that be me) yer rims just aint doing it fo me. So I go to the pay day lender on MLK BLVD to take out a loan for $3.5k to buy new rims for my gold Camry. I even had enough left over scratch to buy a fifth of courvosier, a carton of menthol salems and more scratch tickets. Ol Shaniqua now be happy and I only got 7 more years to pay off that loan when I get out of prison .Schiiittt...Bro Dem pay day lenders good to the brothers and that's all Im sayin.

I know people making respectable earnings.....$75,000+ a year that go from loan shark to loan shark, just to get a payday loan to pay off their last payday loan. It's business that dirtbags have come to capitalize on and frankly I have no issue with that. If someone is dumb enough to be that bad with their money and get into that kind of a loan habit, that's their problem.

As for the poor folks who go to them and get raped by stupid high interest, I have more, but still little symphony for them too. It's a choice they make. People fall on hard times no doubt, but there's more options for those situations than just going to a payday lender.

Payday lenders may be slimy, scum of the Earth people but as long as they're honest and legal, I don't have a problem with them. It's capitalism.

Is he charging them a higher rate of rent?

Bought the property this way. Soon as leases expire they're both gone. Prior owner inherited it, let it run down and took what she could get. It's on one of the most desirable intersections in our area though.

How about the instant tax refund places? Do your taxes, write you a check for half of your refund, keep the rest?
Funny part is the one here gives you a t-shirt and guys wear them. Easy to spot who's an idiot, kinda like the masks

These ice cream and fast food places that serve fat folks Are the worst of the worst. Or should we blame the spoon manufactures. Maybe we should tar and feather them all.

It is a stupid economic decision that stupid people make, that other people profit from. The American way. Just like paying $6 for a pint of Bud Light at the bar that costs .12 cents.

Interesting that so many conservatives here question a legitimate business serving a crappy need, on the up-and-up. Like bondsmen.

I'm guessing they say its predatory *because* they are idiots.

Most of the profits are made from lending to people who can't pay back the loan on the original terms. 91% of all people who get loans don't pay them back at the end of the term.

The question is what is the cost to the community at large to have a payday lender ? in crime, lost revenue and taxes and welfare. There is a cost to them profiting off the people who can least afford to send a high % of their paycheck back on a loan.

You can look at it from two perspectives. Idiots are idiots, they'll always be idiots and payday lending fills a need for them, or you can say idiots are idiots, they'll always be idiots and if we allow people to take advantage of them being an idiot, I'll will be footing the bill one way or another for their idiocy.

I'd like to see them more regulated given their business model focuses on profiting from the failure of their customers to pay back a loan on time.

Contrast this with your posts on the ammo gouging thread.

Making money isn't a bad thing, gouging someone in a bind is a little much. From what I see nobody is selling ammo at a 10% markup.

Oh brother.

Standby while the butt fugker explains his moral compass.

It's pretty simple, do the right thing as long as it's economically feasible.

Fair enough I can that. Personally I never tried the butt fugker sheit, I'll leave that up to you 2.

Are you from Minnesota? Wisconsin?

Personally I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole though

That someone is a piece of shidt. Lots of times I'll take a stance for the fun of it an argue for it's own sake but I'm serious on this one. Taking advantage of folks in hard times is bad juju.

I'm not talking about bilking entrepreneurs doing cash business slinging dope. I mean setting up shop in a low income part of town and charging insane interest rates to folks they know are going to have to default.

What is someone to do that can't go to a bank or get any credit worth a darn? The lenders provide a service. Folks don't have to use it. Its a choice right? All pawn shops bad too? I have buddy who own/manages low income housing and the aggravation he has to deal with is insane, but he makes good money. There is a risk every time he hands someone the keys. Anyone over 400 credit score he'll rent to. If not, he has no business. There is a good portion of the community that just can't purchase a home or rent a nice apartment. He rents stuff as low as 300 bucks a month, its either that or a lot of these folks would in the streets. He does so many evictions that the deputies actually come to him get the paperwork instead of him constantly going down to the courthouse.

Yes pawn shops are in the same boat as payday loan services.

I’m all for their right to do business but they’re scum bags.

In the same league with telemarketers.

I can't believe anybody would do business with anybody who invades their privacy, let alone someone who calls using a fake ID, i.e. a fake number or even spoof the name of a legitimate business. It must work well enough for it to be profitable.
