ATTENTION Arkansas Deer Hunters, resident and non resident.


These past several years we have had a Statewide,
Private Land Antlerless Only MODERN GUN season in October....NOT this year !

In October there is the normal Mzl season.

Modern Gun Season starts Nov 14......

There is the 3 Day After Christmas M G hunt, 26-28

THEN the Private Land Antlerless Only M G season is Dec. 29, 30, 31


I discovered this on the AGFC site and picked up the printed Hunting Regulation Guidebook.

NOWHERE do they (AGFC) say WHY the change. On P 4 they tell of the change, not why.

Thanks.....haven't read the rule book in a loooong time.

Honestly, I just wish they would simplify it and open up deer season (any method you want to hunt them) on about October 1st and run it through at least the end of the year.

I 'could' live with that but:

Here's why. Even tho there are check stations we are ALSO on the 'honor' system. You can check game on a phone or
pc and they've NEVER come to check my tags, kills, deer, etc.
You KNOW there are plenty of 'hunters' who would abuse that kind of season. Some already do.

I have Nursing Fawns right now I see nearly every day at home. They need their mom way past nursing.

I'm ready for Deer Season right now.....but this year I'll have to BOIL the dust and rust out of and off my Knight SS 54 cal.
I haven't loaded/shot it since 2011.

You kind of made my point. Internet checking...few game wardens...we’re already pretty much on an honor system. There is some sort of deer season continually from the middle of September until the end of February. I’m sure many of “bow kills” are rifles and so on and so forth. Just simplify it.

I don’t think it would make that much difference. Most of the pressure comes that first week of deer season. By the third weekend, you might not even hear any shots during a morning of hunting.

They changed it because the bow hunters were whining about the early rifle season educating their deer and they have a bigger voice with the AGFC than gun hunters.

OK but I don’t know.
Gun hunters outnumber the bow hunters quite a bit.

You may be right but I was ALL over the AGFC website and. NOTHING was mentioned
about WHY !!
