Thinking about trying something a bit different and this has my attention. I really like the idea of the German #4 with illumination. GPO has gotten some good reviews for their binos. Wondering if anyone here has any experience with their rifle scopes. Looks like MAP pricing of $649. Any help? Doug...?

I have this scope in a 4-12x with a plain duplex reticle. It seems well built and bright. My two criticisms are these: at about 10x the center of the field stays sharp, but the edges of the field grow blurry. At 12x, a ring of distortion taking up about 1/2 of the field is evident. The aiming point is nice and crisp however. I can't focus it out with the rear focus ring. My other concern is that the adjustment turrets are VERY easy to turn. I paid much less than retail, $389, so I'm still pretty happy with GPO. Just my experience..

I forwarded this thread on to GPO and got the following reply "You might want to pass on that the 3-9x40i and the 4–2x50i, both of which are also in the 3X line, are a completely different optical system than the entry 3-9x42 plex and the 4–2x42 plex scopes. The illuminated models with the “i” designation not only have an upgraded optical system, but also have upgraded glass, better resolution and better transmission. They have no resolution fall off at their higher power and can be compared side by side with other premium European scopes.
These 2 illuminated scopes listed above are truly 2 of the best 1” tube scopes for hunting out there.
The other 2 scopes (3-9x42 plex and 4-12x42 plex) are competitive entry level products but not near the scopes as our illuminated models."

Thanks Doug.
Do you have any feedback, either positive or negative, from customers on this Passion 3X 3-9X40i - G4i? Doesn't seem to be much on the internet about them. Personal opinions?

Thanks, Doug. I didn't realize I had bought the economy model.
