I'm looking to buy all of my kids 2000 way generators but don't want to spend $1100 on Hondas. Any experience with the Wen, Westinghouse, pulsar...?

Dad got two 7500 watt tri-fuel Firman generators from Costco. We used them to power the house for 3 weeks or so after the tornado last October in Dallas. They definitely did the job, but they are incredibly loud - muffler modifications might help with the volume level. The price was decent as well - I think they were between 6-$700.00 a'piece. Firman makes less powerful units as well.

I bought the folks a little Black Max 4500 watt generator about 10 years ago. I paid less than 400 for it. It's a little beauty. Runs great, powers the fridge , freezers , well, sump pump and a few lights. I have no complaints!

I have a 3500/4000 watt Champion that works well. It isn't a inverter type, but they don't cost near as much. They have Honda clone engines that run and start great. Champion also makes inverter gen sets, too.

Is this for camping or emergency home use or ? If camping, make sure you get a quiet inverter generator, otherwise the rest of the campground will want to run you out of camp on a rail.

FYI
The information I was given a few years ago is that the Firman Corp. Is the same company that makes about 90% of the generators you see (Champ I on,Wen,Predator,Husky) they decided to market their own brand so If you see the Firman know its been around for a while, and just as good as any others. We have a 3550 watt with remote start. It powers our 30 amp trailer just fine. We do have to limit the consumption. Have to power down AC unit to use microwave or toaster etc. We now keep it ready for hurricane preparedness stand by.
Ours is a open frame design . So its a bit loud. The smaller inverter units are definitely quieter, and have good reviews as well..

I have a 2000 watt champion inverter generator that I got on sale for $400 a few years ago. It's been great and has logged a lot of hours without a hiccup.

for electronics, fridge - make sure you get an inverter, not a construction grade.

I don't have a recommendation, other than I'd consider a used Honda before I bought a chinese knockoff

I have, right now, 6 - generac 5500W & 6500W that get used daily 8-10 hrs only turned off at lunch.
They seem to last 2-3 years with little to no maintenance.
To be honest, we don't even change oil in them.
They're decent units for $700ish.

Home depot had ridgid models with yamaha motors for awhile that were damn good and if you can catch them, Costco sells a 7000w model with a honda gx motor every once in a while.

Dewalt option is also pretty good, their motors seem reliable as hell. Have one on a pressure washer going on 8 years now without a single hiccup.

No dealings with predator generators.

I’ve had great luck With their 5hp B&S knockoff engines.

You just missed out. Home Depot was selling a Sportsman 2200 for 299 not too long ago. Dont know if they are still running that deal or not. Got good reviews and I just about bit just to have another. Love my honda though.

I don’t own one but the Predator’s get a lot of praise from people down here.

And if a Bluejay lifts it, not the worst of tragedies.

A used Honda or Yamaha. I’ve got a Honda that I haven’t used in years. A buddy had a knock off that was no where near as quiet.

I've had a Generac 2200 inverter for 3 years now that we use at our "off grid" cabin. We put a lot of hours on it when we're there, sometimes running 20 hours a day. I'm always amazed how long it'll run on a gallon of gas......10-12 hours on eco mode.

After losing power for 25 hours. I had to put a 200lb genny on my trailer, then drive around to the different houses to keep fringes and freezers cold.

We bought this...It’s dual fuel and light enough to lift into my truck bed.

Can’t speak to its worthiness yet.

In the aftermath of hurricane Laura, I got a 7500W Firman. Unlike my $9000 Generac yard ornament, the Firman ran like a sewing machine. I was able to keep the fridge, freezer, lights and a couple of window AC units running for nearly three weeks.
