They call Florida the Sunshine State. What is this “sunshine “ thing they refer to?

We would quite gladly swap you some sunshine, filtered by smoke as it is currently, for a big dollop of rain.

I do not recall the last day that it did not rain. Dang near wore out I am.

I've decided, way late, that I need a covered shooting shed. Tables, chairs, maybe an attached shack with a wood stove. Shoot or hang out all day. A good place to cast.

Nothin fancy.................... or as fancy as your desires or wallet will allow. Shooting some rimfire or slow cast from under a tin roof in the rain has is as good a it gets. 90 MPH winds are another matter. Hang in there.

I got the roof cover for the shooting line and it's a good thing for sure. Oddly enough I have other things to do besides casting bullets and shooting. On occasion.

Florida should be called the lightning state because it's number one. Colorado is number two.

I can barely remember what rain looks like. I think our last rain was in July, might have even been June, and it was all of 0.12 of an inch. Yippee!

And yep, I just checked , the 20% chance of showers today and this weekend has been removed from the NWS forecast. Sunny, smoky, and highs in the high 70's low 80s for the next 7 days.

More ripening on the maters for me!

I got a hint maybe. Just outside and for just a few seconds there was a bright light shining on the tree tops, then it vanished. Total overcast as I hunt and peck.

There is a reason...as to why practically NOBODY lived in this s hithole state before the advent of air conditioning...

That's when it wasn't a s hithole state, IMO I grew up where A1A stopped in south Fort Pierce, it was 9 miles of sugar sand to Jensen Beach. Back then my mom would oil the screens to keep the sand flies from entering the house. My dad always wanted to get back to the dock before the afternoon monsoons would hit.

When I worked at the Cape, we called it the "Civil Service T'Storm" because almost every afternoon, just when you were about to get off work, BOOM! and a downpour. You could keep on working until it stopped - no telling when - or get drenched running to your car.

Dan, it's so dry here in Utah that trees are begging dogs to lift their legs.

It’s all dark down towards Jorge’s area as I work on the North side at the port. This has been the most consistently rainy summer since I was a kid in the late 70’s as best I can remember. Yard has been a bog all summer. I’m sooo over it !

Heck ! My family moved down to south Florida in the late 1830’s to fish , ranch , and farm between the coast and the Everglades. I really can’t imagine how tough the living had to have been !
