I've hunted the Burlington Rooster Roundup several times over the years. It's one of those deals where the local Rotary club enlists their members, mostly farmers, to allow bird hunting on their land for the entire season. Each year they offer thousands of acres of western Colorado farm land for pheasant hunting. It costs $150 per person if you sign up before October 16. Youths sixteen or younger are free, if you don't buy breakfast for them. The best hunting will be in the earliest part of the season. Opening day is November 14. After the first week or so, the birds get pretty wary. The last time I hunted was a couple years ago and there were only two of us. That doesn't work very good because most of the hunting is on 1/4 sections or bigger and it takes a bunch of hunters to sweep one of those big fields properly. I've hunted the rooster roundup off and on over the years. I've had great experiences too. I used to hunt with a group, but recently it's just been my son and I, and you have to work hard for birds with just 2 hunters. If you're planning on going more than just opening weekend we'd like to tag along for a couple hunts.

Sure will hunt several times if I have a few people to get together with. My grandson can hunt only on weekends because he's in school. But, I will hunt whenever I can find a few other hunters to go, including during the week.

Interested and have a decent bird dog I have a GSP that is a good bird dog. She's getting kind of old but she may have one more year of hunting left in her.
