the market has a special running on pork butt for .99/lb, probably 6-8 lbs a piece. Should i get two or more of them, or should i save room in the freeze in case I get a deer, even in spite of my woefully poor deer hunting skills...? that is the question

confused confused confused

Yes.

If do do kill a deer, just grind them piggy front shoulders into sausage.

Win/win!

Those are a good size.

I tend to buy my shoulders and picnics too large.

They can have a hell of a "boar" smell to them.

8.5's should be great.

Heck of deal! Au natural, or enhanced? Either way, it's a good price. I'm sure you'll be making some good meals out of those.

'Juiced' is OK with me, but we are not fancy people. Some claim that it's OK for most cooking methods, but not smoking. Not sure that I've noticed a diff.

All it amounts to is paying for salty water....instead of meat.

Anyway...good job.

Not the first time I’ve gotten this deal, so the product is probably the same. No problems that I can detect. Maybe I should go to a real butcher and see how it compares, except there hasn’t been one around in a very long time.

$heitte !

Mutatis mutandis
Mutatis mutandis is a Medieval Latin phrase meaning "with things changed that should be changed" or "having changed what needs to be changed" or "once the necessary changes have been made". It remains unnaturalized in English and is therefore usually italicized in writing.

Figures a math guy would be into Latinos !

grin

Was just at the store. Straight pork roast/butt/whatever was $2 per pound. Juiced was $1.50, with 13% brine. Pork for $1 per pound seems like a good deal to me.

Next time get the organic version if its in stock. Huge taste difference. That one is very good as well.

thanks, i did see that, but have always used this one. I'm fine with the flavor, pretty strong actually, well priced, and this quantity lasts long. Ideally, would be good to have another more moderate version to use in cooking, then EVOO for salads and garnish. The flavor of this one really shines.
