Now this has been out couple seasons, what are the thoughts of actual users. Thinking about picking one up but haven't been able to see one firsthand. Specifically, ruggedness, zero holding, and use in hunting situations. I really like the 3-9SS but but sometimes wish for something a little lighter with a plex reticle. Thanks

I think it is often compared to the Leupold Vx-3i 2.5-8x36. I was thinking the other day why SWFA didnt come out with this scope in a 30mm tube like the Sitron S Tac? That seems like a hella combo to me.

Lw308. If it is like that Leopold, and holds zero, I would love it.

Although, after reading further the Sitron weighs 16oz while the SWFA UL weighs 9.5oz.... if weight is what you are concerned about then that answers the question...And it offers a nice BDC reticle.

I had a Vx3i 2.5-8x36 for a while and sold it for some wild hair reason. They are amazing. Order ya one of those SWFAs I'm sure you will like it!

Well the adjustments appear to be precise and what little I have used mine it appears to hold zero very well, even after bouncing around in the truck storage box. The eye relief is very short and I would not use it on anything with recoil more than say a 6.5 Creedmoor, I have mine on a Kimber Montana .223. The biggest issue I have with the scope is the quality of the glass, it is no where near Leupold VX-3i quality, and is so poor that at 10x it is hard to get a good focus on a target. Now for hunting game it will be fine but trying to shoot groups with the rifle at 8 to 10x is a problem. The focus ring will get the reticle in focus very well but no amount of adjustment helps the target focus.

Think of it as a scope where the value is in the mechanicals and not the optics, which can be fine in many hunting situations.

Note, I am 69 years old and my eyes are not the best so it may be better for those with great vision. Just my observation of the one I have.

I have one mounted on a AR-15. It mostly stays at 7x. No problem shooting groups at 100 to 300 yards. No problem hitting small rocks at 330 yards. I also have the Leupold VX3i 2.5-8 and it does have better glass, I had it mounted on a 6.8spc AR before moving it over to a 338WM.

I am really liking the SWFA on the AR and plan on getting another for that 6.8 once I am finished dumping funds into the current build.

I have tried mounting a phone skope on that SWFA but it is too small for my mount.

Pros: small, lightweight, precise adjustments. Cons: very short eye relief, glass is less than vx3i quality- especially at higher power setting. Hope this helps!

I've had mine a little over a year, not long enough to really speak to it's ruggedness yet, but so far so good. The Christmas tree reticle was a bit hard to use last year, but since cataract surgery this summer it has become sharp and well-defined. The scope is on a light-weight .223 and is perfect for that use IMHO. I'm sure it will make meat again this November.

Thanks all. I figured the higher powers would be less useful, that short eye relief is the bigger concern. I appreciate a nice 'eye box'.

A similar scope with 1-6X /2-7x and a little more eye relief would be perfect. Even it it weighed a few ozs more.

Thanks for the link. The search function here is poor at best.

This also works, but damned if I can get it to hyperlink.

It’s a campfire specific Google search engine. Not ideal, but certainly better than the generic search function.
