I spent last week at the ranch with my brother dove and hog hunting. We had a great time and I was able to shoot a couple nice boars. First boar was shot with a Ruger No 1 in 220 Swift and weighed 185lbs. The second one was shot with a LH Model 70 in 300 H&H and weighed 210lbs.

I got tired of playing hunting lease roulette so in 2014 we bought a place just north of Cisco and built a 3 bedroom house on it. The place is overrun with hogs but we like shooting them so all good. I usually use a 9.3x62 but my brother talked me into trying the 220 Swift with a head shot. While it worked I feel better with a larger bullet in the chest.
I had the 300 H&H built on a LH Model 70 and this load was a 180gr TSX over 4831. I'm still playing around with this one but can't argue the TSX did the job with a one shot flop.
Dove hunting on our place isn't great but we shot enough to make it interesting and got to see the labs work.

Keep up the good work. I find that feral hogs are ideal to break in new-to-me guns. And to be sure less used guns still function OK.
