I have a Coleman CL2 that I've had for years and it's always worked good but now it's not. I think it has a bad generator, which I am ordering. I want to buy another Coleman, an older one MADE IN USA but am not sure what model I want. Any suggestions?

I have several nice collectable old coleman lanterns.
As nice as they are my propane Coleman Northstars cant be beat for brightness, easy of use and toughness.
I have one clear and one amber. Both made in USA.

Always been a fan that hissing sound a gas Coleman makes but times change. Propane and battery lanterns for me.

Single mantel propane Northstars are my favorite. Very bright and efficient.

I have a few older ones I have no 8se for or any idea of value. I believe they have double mantles.....

The old Coleman single- and double-mantel lanterns were a staple of my childhood camping experiences. Still have a few here and there. Kerosene just has that "campy" smell to it. I'm not a fan of electric lanterns.
I belong on eroding granite, among the pines.

Got a soft spot for them lots of old memories around a pump up Coleman lantern. I have a propane one and used to use it a fair bit. But with today's LED lights and good batteries I just use that any more.

I went on a Steelhead fishing trip as a young teen with some outfitters that had those in the boat. They'd pull them out when we'd park and fish. They weren't part of our normal camping gear though. That's what fires were for.

I used to hang a Coleman lantern from a coat hanger off the center pole of a big umbrella tent my Dad bought in 1965 for moose hunting. We would leave the lantern on all night turned real low and your nose would never get cold!
I still have that old Herters tent with the steel poles.....

I collected Coleman lanterns for a while! Still have a few old, Double mantle green, with the large reflector, 1947, and a couple from the 60's still hang in the shop! The red single mantle l, purchased at G.I. Joes in the Portland store in 1966. Still works great. Sadly now days it's a generator, and led lights.

I have three. A single mantle, a double and a dual fuel. All need work and parts are spendy, and the mantles suck.
Now, I rely on kerosene lanterns.
