Just purchased a nice MARLIN 94 in 38-40 (BIg Bore Lever ???). I know the revolver loads are in the 1100fps range. Can the Marlin 94 be pushed higher, or is it a metallurgy thing. Serial number is 5xx, which falls after 1906 so assume it is smokeless powder friendly. Seems dating the Marlin 94 after 1906 by serial number is a guessing game.

thanks for the help

If you shoot those loads in the rifle you will find that they will be faster than in a pistol.

The rifle has no cylinder gap to lose pressure.
