What do you do with them when you no longer want to keep them?
I hate to thrown good books away.

That’s where I’m at, but still...
How much has algebra changed in the last 5-10 years? 🤷♀️

I don't know if they wanted 'em or not, but I donated a pile of books to the local library and bookmobile. At one point I had 3 generations of textbooks. All of that material is now at our fingertips. Does Algore take credit for that?

I was damn happy to toss my copy of Rene Descartes’ Discourses. I couldn’t get rid of it fast enough! Sandwiched between algebra text on either side!!!

When I was in high school, we read "Evangeline". We found the names of many parents of members of the class in them. Two comments that I remember from the parents were: "In case of flood, stand on this book; it is very dry" and "In case of fire, throw this book in".

I have my mother's 1925 high school Wyoming HIstory book along with my 1955 typing book. I have several others not associated with my family, I'm always searching yard sales etc for good ol' books.
We studied "Evangeline" in freshman English, I thought it was a pretty good story. Must depend on the teacher.

In college, some college clubs had a used book sale every semester as a fund raiser. You could take your used books in to sell and they'd keep a small commission. The problem was getting worse all the time of teachers changing books every couple of semesters so your old books wouldn't be used again and couldn't be sold. It was a graft as the teachers got a commission from the book companies so it was money in their pockets to change books and screw the students. Like was said, how often does calculus or English history change? In many, or even most, subjects, there was no reason to change books as the subject matter didn't change.

Give them to a young family who needs a booster seat. Maybe osmosis works.....

I was gifted an entire collection of pre WW2 medical texts when I was a young EMT. I learned how to diagnose and treat by signs and symptoms rather than be dependent on X-rays and lab tests. As I progressed in the medical field that became invaluable when working as a paramedic/pa in austere environments. The color drawings of anatomy were far more useful than photos and many had acetate overlays to illustrate depth. 3 of my kids went into medical fields but they use those old texts as displays in their offices mike r

Someday there will be no books and it will be easier for the marxist to re-write history as it will all be online.

How much has algebra changed in the last 5-10 years? 🤷♀️ If you compared books from forty years ago to those of today you'd see the courses have become weaker.

Funny thing is that my youngest son, who just graduated this past spring as an ME (Texas A&M), used the same senior design book I used in 1985 at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
