So. Did anyone pull a 6.5 outta the LAW/Banser stock for their new 6 cr, that they now must sell?
I have the stock, has a 243 youth vanguard action in it.
Trying to chase down a lwt howa 6 5 bbld action, been tough.

Yes. You want the standard barrel channel for this particular barrelled action.

I don't know what the differences are between a Howa 1500 Lightweight and a V2 Compact, but I did see that Reeds Sports in Walker, MN, has V2 Synthetic Compacts in 6.5 CM advertised on GB for $479. I've never bought anything from Reeds Sports, but they have an A+ rating with nearly 60,000 transactions on GB.

I was this close to buying one of these 6CM actions, but instead, decided to go the other way and thin the Howa stuff from my herd. Which leaves me with a new and unused Hogue full-bed stock in ghillie green for Howa short actions. I have read this thread and saw the hate for Hogue stocks. I'll agree and say I thoroughly dislike the fairly flexible, pillar-bed plastic stocks that LSI packages with Hogue rifles. But I've been told Hogue has never shipped a full-bed stock to LSI. The full-bed is a totally different animal, with a very different feel. I've personally gone back to back with this and the Vanguard S2 Griptonite stock, and I like the shape of this better. I think the difference comes down to the shape of the pistol grip, mostly. Anyway, here's what I think is a good option for sale (yes, it's me selling it): https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/15259412

Maybe I will go 1 of those ways. Also have seen stainless whole rifles fairly cheap, not the short #1 contour, but perhaps worth the weight penalty...

Lucky you. My Griptonite (the second one) showed up Friday. 37oz! Total package with rail, SS 6x42 in “Horn” rings is 9lbs 4.6oz. No problem; this one’s for fun, not mountain climbing. If it’s a real shooter, I can always steal the stock off my Alpine, but still the FC at 6lbs 7oz with scope will be tough to beat. Pretty nice setup for $400 minus the optics, although the $249 Walmart Special Vanguard .243 still holds the record if you can ignore the slow twist.

I received confirmation and the McMillan should be here tomorrow or the after. Order some rings and bases for it as well, along with dies and some ADG brass for the works. I’ve got an SS 1x6 and a 3x9 I can put on it. Not totally sure which direction I wanna go just yet. That 1x6 is pretty danged nice.
