Here is one of the stocks I got in my garage sale find, it is unfortunate that a piece has busted off. I cannot fond out what specific rifle it goes to.

Measuring the distance between action screws is probably the beat place to start if you’re looking for an answer as to what barreled action might fit.

Beautiful stock; where is the break you refer to?

It’s hard to see, but a small piece of the stock is missing behind the area of the bolt. I have a couple of actions that are close, but nothing is drop in.

There are not enough photos of the inletting of the action for me to determine what it is for but looking at the cut for the bolt handle I'd at least check out a 1917 enfield action.

I think that for any material help, you'd need a series of good photos showing acton area from the top, barrel breech area & bottom metal areas. The '17 Enfield mentioned above has a rather distinctive wide bottom metal pattern. Seems to me the formula here, to help yourself... Help us help you with good pix. As far as mauser 'nuances', another story though large ring or small ring should be discernable.

The bolt handle inlet suggests a M/1917, as mentioned by the above poster dropping a Mauser guard into the bottom metal inletting may confirm suspicions as whether the stock is inletted for an Enfield 1917.
