How do the wind river 15-45 (I think)spotting scopes compare to the newer spotting scopes available. Also what would be a fair price, glass is good, no tripod or hard case. Just soft case.

I have an older wind river spotting scope. It isn't very good. The glass isn't much, and it is not very clear past 15x. I wouldn't get one. There are much better options. I went with a minox compact, and it will run circles around the wind river. Lots is other brands will too.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Bottom on the barrel for Leupold back in the day.
Looked thru a pair of 10x42 Wind River binos on a Dall Sheep hunt and they were not too bad.
