Is there a chance that ruger can pull the Marlin out of the toilet? Can they make a new lever gun superior to the JM?
Personally, I think they can pull it off.

Lose the button safety. Clothe them in plain walnut with no checkering like they did back in the 70s. Profit...

Don't think the "lawyers" will let them lose the safety.

Then again, I've been mistaken before.

I think they can too. I suspect that they’ll especially focus on the big bore Marlin lever actions and build them to be good strong guns. I don’t see any reason why that wouldn’t carryover to the 336.

If they're as good as the other guns they make, 3 out of 5 will be junk.

Everything I read on the subject said that after Rem realized the JM machinery was worn out & regrouped with new machinery & procedures, that the Remlin was as good or better than the JMs produced in the last year or two before they sold.

As far as a Ruglin? I'm gonna ride the fence & say I gotta wait & see. I can't be optimistic & say the Ruglin will be better than Rem due to my opening statement, but trying not to be pessimistic due to Ruger sending out a bunch of crap themselves for a few years. Thinking/hoping they're doing better at this time. It'll be a year or 2 IMO before we see anything from them if Ruger uses the newly purchased machinery.

I don't think quality will be that different. I am hoping roger will do limited runs of different calibers like they do the #1

They may have start up problems, but probably not. Ruger seems to have their production methods down pretty pat. I'm sure they had problems in the past, but who hasn't? I've had Kimber, Remington, Winchester and others with problems on new firearms, always got them straightened out. I bought two revolvers and one pistol from Ruger this year and they have been flawless as far as I can tell so far with no problems. I imagine most of the people bashing Ruger hasn't bought a new Ruger firearm in many years, just parroting what they read on the internet. Why don't we just give them a chance and see what they can do? Either way, it's better than just letting a truly iconic American firearm company to just go away.

I'm excited and think they can do it. I would love to see them bring back the 1894 as well.

Anybody too stupid to manage the cross bolt safety out to just use a damn pointy stick anyway. Fuggs sake. And I like the checkering but it wouldn’t keep me from buying one that didn’t have it.

I bet Ruger does well with the lineup.

Leaked picture of prototype Ruglin 336 "Traditional" for the legacy buyers:

Rumor has it they will update the features on this to appeal to the younger tactical crowd...

Wonder if they’ll be able to fit the Ruger safety warning on the side of the receiver????

A 444 with a 24 inch barrel.
No cross bolt.
No checkering.
Good modern recoil pad.

It would sell.

I heard Ruger will make a Mini 14 in 45-70 and a 336 in 223 that takes 30 rd mini 14 mags

Valsdad: After sales of their Model 700 PLUMMETED the tone deaf folks at Big Green (Remington!) "removed" their new safety bolt lock ("J" Lock) from that Rifle model and sales immediately perked up.
Maybe it can happen again?
I am VERY surprised the dimwits at Smith & Wesson haven't cancelled the "hillary lock" on their revolvers - I know it has significantly harmed their sales.

From where did you hear this?

Was it From the same source that you couldn’t name saying that 90% of Hispanic people here were illegals?
