I have a 340 weatherby that has a muzzle break and seems to have just the right barrel harmonic/recoil that it seems to eat scopes. I can usually get a box or two of ammo through it then it drops the crosshairs out of the center and they move when you shake it or it will group two shots then moves the point of impact 6”-12” for one or two shots then move another 6”-12” in a random direction. I started with an older Burris it literally dropped the crosshairs to the bottom of the tube and they landed at a 45deg angle. Then it broke a Leupold vari XII after about 40 rounds and it just did the same thing with a Swaro 1” 4-12x50 with the BT turret after about 15 rounds.
What scope line is built to stand up to this kind of recoil?
What’s working for you guys shooting 340 Weatherby or 338 RUMs with muzzle breaks?
Thanks

The older Burris Signature series with the Posi loc will take about anything.

I can vouch for Nightforce NXS from first hand experience on my .338 Lapuas.
Use a Nightforce steel picatinny rail and Nightforce steel rings, degrease every thread with either acetone or Gunscrubber, and use a torque wrench to tighten to specs and use blue Loctite on every thread.

SWFA 3-9 HD is probably up to it. Call or Email and ask what they think.

Maybe try some Burris Signature or Optilok rings, perhaps the nylon inserts might offer some shock-absorption?

That made me laugh out loud. Some of you guys are on a roll today.

Even though myself and several others I know have 340s and 338s with scopes mentioned here with no problem, I would recommend either an SWFA fixed power or a Nightforce if I wanted to feel confident there would be no negative affects on my scope from recoil.
