I am looking for some advice where I can get some custom dies made for my .35 Whelen AI. I’ve been told I will need two fired casings from the gun for them to make the dies, just unsure where to find a quality product.

If anyone has experience with this please let me know for good load data. I am fairly green to reloading so my gun builder is going to give me mentoring for the first few hundred rounds.

Thank you.

I have a Redding 35 Whelen AI custom die that Redding made for me. Look at 35 Whelen reloading data mid loads to start.

Prefer vented dies like RCBS for AI chambers, make sure like said below you get the tapered sizing button.

CH made me a set of 338-06 Ackley dies which work better than the Redding set for my chamber. They also may be quicker &/or cheaper than Redding. If you want a tapered expander (a good idea) it may be an optional part. Good guys to work with.

At least 2 of the posters have Whelen Ackleys.

Ch4d has provided my “odd-ball” dies and I’m pleased with their dies.

I prefer classic.

Here's a three dies set for the same price:
Redding 3-die 35 WAI set

I got mine from RCBS as a stock item many years ago, and as I recall did not have to supply cases. Not sure if they make them anymore.

I have a lot of data and research on this thread HERE
You'll have to get several pages into it and have to put up with a lot of gum flapping, but I think it'll be useful to a new Whelen shooter.

Cheers and good luck,
Rex

I would buy from one of the national brands as they offer them.

I just ordered the Redding 3 die set, thank you for all the info. I will be tapping into the load data shortly and see if I can find a load the Sako will like the most.
