I've got some 140 grn. Sierra Game King bullets and in the Sierra load data, it lists quite a few powders to choose from. I have the h4350, RL 19, Varget, and h4831sc. I'm looking for opinions on which one of the powders mentioned might be the best choice for Whitetail deer? Average shooting distances will probably, be inside 100 yds. Thanks! smile

H4350 is the easy button.

Any of the four you mentioned except Varget for 140s and heavier. As Mathman said, H4350 is the easy button but R19 and H4831 should work fine too. Varget is great in the Creedmoor too, but will likely pressure out with 140s before you get the velocity you want. Works great with 130s and lighter.

Excellent bullet choice for WT. Another vote for H4350... betting you find some really good accuracy somewhere between 41 to 43 grains.

There are so many options for a 100 yard Whitetail load from a 6.5 Creed it would be hard to not pick a good powder from 3031 to any of the 4350's. 24-2500 fps would work wonderfully with the Gameking. Heck if it shot 3" groups it would be fine.

Yeah, right.

I wouldn't be scared of a Game King started at 2700.

I like em at that velocity myself. Used a few from a bolt Grendel last year on some smallish feral hogs. Perfect bullet performance started at just under 2300 fps.

Yep, Varget works well with the lighter ones, for sure.

Don't forget about the Scenar. This one and the 139 do a job on WT's.

Reminds me of the quickest dying bull elk I ever saw in the old days before we had a chronograph. 7-08 140 NBT into the right spot apparently at 80 yards. Flop. Later determined mv to be about 2300 and we dubbed it my 30-30 load. laugh

I am going with a slow 2710 with the 129ABLR for this year! OMG!

If I were you, would just buy Hornady American Whitetail factory loads with the 129 Spire Point and kill deer. (Unless, of course, you just like to burn primers and powder and send bullets into backstops.) Then you could sell the fired brass to the guys who try to turn the 6.5 Creedmoor into a .264 Winchester Magnum. You'd be money and time ahead.

That's like a jab at the magnificent manbun magnum experimenters!

I have 26 rounds of Hornady Non Typical 140 grain I could use but, I already ordered the Game Kings so I guess I'll go ahead and work a load up to try. I think the Mauser m18 I bought last year is a little finicky and picky about what it digests. When they first came out with the new Mauser they really praised it but, I think it was over rated the barrel still isn't broken in yet but I still think they went over board with their 5 round moa boast! Thanks Everyone!

I got better velocity and accuracy out of R17 than I did out of H4350. YMMV.

It's official, the Fire has now recommended a bullet, ammunition, and powder not mentioned in the selection of available options under consideration. laugh

I bought one in PRC. I can't say anything negative about mine..
Accuracy is outstanding. Other thn lack of load data I have. Factory 147's shoot tiny groups.

Speaking of 7-08, I've found the 140 SGK HPBT to be the most accurate bullet. It and the 120 BT are my two fav bullets for my 7-08.

The SGK seems a bit more expansive than the NBT, both kill WT's well. The NBT is sub MOA. With the SGK, I've shot a number of 5 shot sub half inch groups out of my custom Hart barreled 700, most running .3" to .4". With typical WT hunting, not an issue. Just fun to see at the range.
