It sure isn't anything like the people I know who deer hunt, but Missouri and Kentucky aren't Michigan, either, and I don't know anything about how those folks up Nort do things.

I had a copy of it, gave it to some folks from Missouri, but they didn't seem to think much of it. I think a lot of it went over their heads. It's still there, as far as I know.

Saw the live play written by Jeff Daniels. Having spent time in da nort, I appreciate it as a hyperbolic attempt at humor. Good, no. Fun, kinda. See it once, enough.

Saw it once, many years ago and have never had the urge to watch it again. Kinda quirky and had moments of humor, but mostly just outlandishly dumb.

I've not been much to the UP, but we all at our deer camp think the movie is hilarious.

It's silly, but fun.

Yoopers are a different breed. If your from downstate your lower than whaleshit on their chart. Lots of "Never seen a downstater that could wup a yooper" types. Best part is the people that retire up there. Been there a month and talk about downstate like its all Detroit. Only reason to deer hunt in the UP of Michigan is if you LOVE your venison tasting like pine needles.

Never seen it. Sounds like a male gay porno.

A guy from work sent it home with me and said I needed to see it. I watched a couple of trailers on YouTube and couldn't make myself watch it.

I think everyone starts out a pow. Pow, pow, pow. The buck fever.

One day, that person takes that one extra second to aim, and they make their first deliberate kill.

Its the point the film tried to make I think.

First saw this as a play at a local little theater. Enjoyed it immensely. The movie, not so much. Part of the enjoyment was hearing people pretend to talk like my wife's relatives in the UP. Her mother moved there from Sweden in 1904, when she was two years old. They lived on the Stonington Peninsula, that divides Little and Big Bays de Noc. As a young girl, she would walk or hitch a ride in a sleigh across Little Bay de Noc to Escanaba, to sell butter and eggs. One trip she didn't make, the farmer, his horses and sleigh apparently when through the ice, as they were never heard from again. Life was extremely hard, as she was the youngest of three girls, and their father died when she was about six.

They had it playing in Wal Mart in the hunting area. What I saw was the fart scene in the bunkhouse. I figured that any movie with a good fart scene had to be good.

I was wrong.

Watch it the night of November 14 every year - in a cabin about 100 miles North of Escanaba. My pre-national holiday tradition. Know more than a few people in that area that would fit right in with folks in the movie.
