Gentleman, I need help! A family member has a Buffalo hunt scheduled for late October and is running low on 535 grain black powder cartridges. I have checked Buffalo Arms and they are out. I do not find any other supplier of loaded rounds. Does anyone have a contact for these? TIA, Rider

What kind of rifle is he shooting? Jerry Dean at Powder Inc. used to sell loaded black powder ammo. He MIGHT be able and willing to help you out. Call him at (479) 705-0005. Good luck.

We tried Powder Inc. No luck. Buffalo is still showing no inventory but we did find some similar loading that will work. Thanks for the help, Rider The hunt has been rescheduled to Mid November due to covid.

Thanks for all of the help. They have located the needed ammo. I want to thank Nathanial for his offer of some of his stash- we didn't need it but I appreciate the offer. Rider .

Sharpguy, They were on a cull hunt on the Lower Brule Reservation. They were using a Browning 1885 in 45-70 with Buffalo Arms loaded 530 grain black powder cartridges. Both shot cows and both shots were complete pass thru. I did not ask about the yardage but I would assume that they were short range shots. I was not able to make the trip with them- maybe next year. I haven't cooked any steak yet but it should be good as the cows appeared in the pictures to be young.
