I don't know if anyone has watched this video but the guy kept his cool. I am not sure how I would have reacted in the same situation.

That was defensive aggression on the cat's part, driving a perceived threat away from her cubs. Good job on the runner's part. I've been in a few situations (not with cats), and I'm always way too busy to be filming....

That video has made the rounds!
Getting away from the cubs was a non-negotiable, no question. But after that, the cat kept coming because he kept retreating... for 5 minutes! I don't blame him, imagine being in that situation and thinking clearly!?!?! But you do see several times where the cat really wanted to stop and turn back to the cubs, but he kept retreating, so she kept coming. He finally got a rock thrown and that stopped him, and she whirled right away.
Freaky! No criticism whatsoever!

What are those lunges with claws snapping together for? They "I'm gonna tear down your outhouse, MOFO!" She would not be doing that if meat hunting, or wanting to really attack. A lady with babies could get un-necessarily hurt that way....

I often ride my bike in the same area he was jogging. It's about 15 minutes from the house. Occasionally we get cats that wander down off the foothills onto the golf course, but I've never had a close encounter of the mountain lion kind like that guy did. He is damn lucky he didn't end up as lunch for mama and her cubs.
