Just curious about the value of a 50's era CMP Correct grade M1 US rifle. I sold all of my WWII M1's for up to $1600 back a ways and still retain a Springfield, and HRA rifle with minimum wear etc that were graded as Correct. I also kept my IHC which according to CMP has no history at all. I am curious because these are now deemed scarce or rare and only sold at the CMP auction site for pretty big bucks. Again I am really curious what the value may be in today's market.

I haven't really kept up with the market but when I happen to see one for sale they seem to be $1500-$2100 asking price.

Depends entirely on what it is. Condition, parts, re-built etc. Who graded it? If they function the are correct.

I was at the CMP South Store this week, there were a few “Correct” grade at the Talladega Marksmanship Park, and at the South Store.

Both locations had a good stock of 1903s, Mark Is, 1903A3s, 1917s, M-1 Garands from all manufacturers. Pretty certain I saw the Garands in condition from Rack through Correct Grade.

TMP seemed to have more M-1C and M-1Ds than the South Store did, and more Correct grades.

Opinions vary widely on what is “good” and what is a “gem” on the sale rack, so I’ll not comment much.

Saw a solid IHC LED rebuild that sold behind my purchase, saw a Winchester 1917 with correct stock, barrel, and receiver in 5 digit serial. Several 1903A3 with 4 groove barrels, and a good mix of GI marked stocks across all.

CMP RIFLE PRICES 2020 - from what I saw, these are pretty close to what you’d pay there.

ALL RIFLES ARE NOT AVAILABLE BUT IF THEY WERE THESE ARE THE CURRENT PRICES.

PLUS 10% TAX at Anniston store and 7% TAX at TMP store.

Correct grade is a CMP grade:

CORRECT GRADE: (VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT)
Correct Grade Rifles are similar to the Service Grade (above), but will show less wear and use. Correct Grade rifles will have all correct parts for the date of manufacture with 80% or better overall original metal finish. The stock and handguards will be of walnut and correct for the rifle but will have some dings, dents, scratches and marring of the wood finish. Stocks will have the appropriate original inspector’s cartouche. The rifle bore will be very good with no significant defects and with a throat erosion of less than 4 and a muzzle wear of 2 or less. Very good to excellent condition. This grade is rare and is only available occasionally in limited quantities. Because of the scarcity of these rifles, they will only be sold on the CMP auction site at cmpauction.thecmp.org.

And, from the prices above (AH64's post) you can see what that means.

Yup so my SA Correct is worth more than a HRA correct then. Nice.

I shoot the IHC occasionally, the others sit in the safe in a sock and are as purchased with CMP paperwork etc. I have a 1943 1903A3 SC with a muzzle reading of -1 (which I have never seen) and a 1934 1903A1 SA with a +2, good shooters.
