One of the guys who rents from my wife asked me that question and since I have never shot one or owned one I thought that somebody here might share their actual experiences with that make and model. He is interested in the Venture II with the upgraded trigger, not the original Venture that apparently had quite a poor trigger. Please be specific about your likes and dislikes, as general comment like "they suck" aren't at all useful.

Cant speak for the 2.0 version, but I had 2 of the original blue ones, a 25-06 and a 30-06.

The 25-06 was stupid accurate. Factory 100 grain CoreLokts would almost go 3 in a hole. Reloads were pretty much the same.

The 30-06 was accurate, just not real accurate. It went down the road first.

The 25-06 went down the road because I just got bored with it.

A coworker in AL bought one in 7-08 before I bought any of mine and his was very accurate as well.

I guess I didnt like the triggers on them, since most of my guns have Timneys or are adjustable from the factory.

Never had the version 2 either, but the three regular ventures that I owned all shot great.

Triggers one mine all had some take up before breaking. They were not 2-stage feeling, but were smooth and consistent enough to be usable. Like Hawk, I would prefer something a little better.

I have had 2 of the Venture compact rifles. One in 243 that was accurate(3 shots under an inch). T/C guarantees 1inch groups with quality ammo. Accuracy was around an inch with 95gr and 100 gr Hornady ammo. The varmint weights bullets were .5 to .8 groups at 100 yards. I did like the adjustable trigger which I set at 3.5#. The rifle always functioned perfectly. The magazine holds 3 rounds and does protrude just below the stock. The one thing which I had to adjust to was the short bolt lift to recycle the action. Tollerences are very tight. The rifle was sold because I just had to have a new pistol the I could never live without!
I still have T/C venture compact in 7mm-08. It will group under an inch at 100 yards with the right ammo. It is more sensitive to bullet weights than the 243 was. It does prefer the lighter weight bullets. The heaviest bullets group around 1.5 to 2" at 100 yards. Having said that it did seem to give about the same grouping with the longer heavier bullets at 200 yards. I have heard of this but this is the first of my rifles that performed with little difference in groups size from 100 yds to 200 yds. I set trigger pull at 3.5# for hunting rifles.
I have kept this Venture for deer hunting and the possibility of hunting Bear or Elk with son-in-law out west. No problems with this gun. The composite stock is firm and not flexible like Savage or Ruger.

The ventures are imho better than any of the entry level rifle so much so that I consider them a step Above entry level.

Anyone that shot the venture is impressed with its accuracy.
It may be little rough the edges but solid rifle. But I feel it’s twice the gun over RAR.
Too bad there is little to no aftermarket support.
My tc venture 1 in 270 keeps up if not beat it with my tikka 06

My 30-06 beater shoots both 165 and 180 BT's to the same POI and both UNDER 1/2" @ 100 yards.

I had a first generation Venture in .270 Win, it was very accurate. I didn't like the single stack magazine or the bolt handle (too short and small). Sold it when a soldier who was PCSing to NE to be a recruiter and hoped to deer hunt there was looking for a rifle. I don't know how it worked for him long term as it has probably been 11 years ago now. However, I'm positive it will kill a deer or two.

I have thought about selling it like others. But I don’t want to be one of those guys that regrets selling a shooter.

Great entry and exit level rifle, IMO.

No idea on the new ones but the older style were excellent. Had a couple and they both shot great.

It would be my choice out of the current crop of 'BIC' rifles....

I have a Gen 1 in 6.5x284, it's a one hole rifle.

I have a Gen 1 in .308. My go to rifle for Hill Country hunting in Tx. Just upgraded the trigger spring and now it is at a crisp 1.5lbs. Also put a picatinney rail and new Nikon P5 glass on over the weekend. Great rifle.

Handled one today. Same as the other version but with better trigger and cerakote and threaded muzzle. It's a buy

The guy bought a Venture II in 6.5 CM and liked it so much that he had order one in 223 for a truck gun.
