Best deer cartridge, easy. Doesn't matter what it is so long as your comfortable with shooting it and comfortable with it's ability. Until you get into dangerous game situation's most any cartridge will kill pretty much anything as long as you do your job. The most important component in any cartridge to hunt anything is not the cartridge, it's the shooter!

I agree with you and HAVE said the same thing.
I have practiced 400 yd shooting with appropriate cartridges and am comfortable and have killed deer 386, 399, & 402 yds.

IF, IF you hit a deer at 400 yds with a 22 LR you 'might' bruise' it.

ADDENDUM to this:

"ps: NO... the 6.5 Creed, 6.5 X47, 6.5 Grendal, & 6.5 Swede DON'T shoot flatter INSIDE 400 yrds."

^^ stated in previous post .

The 260 Rem does NOT shoot flatter than a 270 W inside of 400yds.

We have someone 'here' who stated the SAME thing a WHILE back.
"Remington tried to SELL that when the 260 came out and....."
