I am trying to figure out a max load for Big Game with 100 ballistic tip in 250 AI. I haven't found any data yet, but I was hoping I can extrapolate from 257 roberts data. Anyone have either BG data ( max charge weights and velocity) for 100g bullets in 250 AI or the case volumes of 250AI and 257 Roberts?

Case capacity is just about exactly the same.

You can extrapolate from .257 Roberts data, but even +P .257 data is pretty low-pressure, with a SAAMI maximum average pressure of 58,000 PSI. This is lower than the .30-06's 60,000 PSI, which is lower than the .270's 65,000.

Thanks, just what I was looking for. There is Big Game data for the 257 from Ramshot so I will use that as a guide.

I've had two .250 AIs and one .257 Roberts. I'd have to review old notes for data, but I'm pretty sure muzzle velocity with the standard .257 beat the MV of the AIs when using the 100 grain Sierra ProHunter, the .25 caliber bullet I've used most in .250 Savage, .250 AI, and .257 Roberts.
