They are my favorite of the cheaper cup and core type factory loads. I prefer my hand loaded Partitions in most of my rifles, but Fusions work well for the money. Midway says they are a bonded bullet.

Yep, bonded but still somewhat soft. I've only seen them used in 7mm and .30cal but they've been great on our hogs and deer. They knock nice holes in stuff.
Now with even more aplomb

i just checked and Midway no longer lists then in any caqliber. Graf & Sons has some calibers but doesn't list 243. As always " you should have been here yesterday", the story of my life,Hoping to try then out on a big Mulie next week.

Thanks for the input. I've been loading at buying and reloading some Fusion bullets for my 243. Midway has a pretty good selection of calibers and weights. Are they offering the 243 as a component bullet? Federal doesn't offer them as a component bullet in 243.

Federal is curious with the differences between what they offer in loaded ammo and don't offer in the same component bullet.

The profit margins must be far higher for loaded ammo.

Ballisticstudies.com said this about them:
“The core bonded Fusion loads cannot do anything that the Federal/Partition loads cannot already do and it is a shame to see such marketing ploys water down an already sufficient factory ammunition line up.”

That's not true...they can be bought for about half the price as the Federal Premium ammo loaded with Partitions....

In my collection of recovered slugs I have a Federal Fusion 150 grain from a 270 Win that I recovered from a buck antelope shot at @250 yards. The bullet entered right rear ham and was recovered in diaphragm area. The antelope did not react to the shot and ran off with the herd. Intercepting the herd on the adjacent field we saw there was no buck any longer. Backtracking we found the buck still alive and mobile but slow enough my 10 year old grandson finished it off with a 30-30. Upon gutting him the bullet was recovered and its path ascertained. The bullet did not expand in the least. It could be reloaded and shot again. One experience does not often give true results.

Sample of one. Nephew shot his first deer last year with a .243 shooting Federal 95gr Fusions factory cartridge. Shoulder / spined an average size KY buck right at 100 yards. Deer went straight down. Recovered a mangled bullet in the off side hide. IIRC, weighed in the 65 grain weight range. Right at 2/3rds of original weight. I still prefer Partitions. However, would not have any reservations with the .243 95gr Fusion load for KY WT's...
