Right below the house. Public land. There was a guy from North Carolina in my ladder stand when I got to it. He thought I packed it in and set it up for him, I guess. Doesn’t get better than that. Congrats to all, beats the hell out of looking at target pics. My son got his first deer on Saturday morning. He’s so pumped you can’t believe it. He worked his butt off this summer helping around the farm, he’s been practicing on pigs and shooting a pellet rifle for a couple of years, and he put in a lot of time making sure he was ready. I’m super proud of him.

I personally think too many people get caught up with antler size these days and lose sight of the hunting experience. I've yet to have a buck mounted since I've been hunting The memory and the bags of meat in the freezer is what's important to me

It’s the damned best when I can hunt with my brother and show him the loonyness of hunting elk. The Old Goat with cow has taught me a ton through the years as well. It’s pretty danged special to pass it along.
Plus my brother is 22 years younger than me, so I like abusing his strong back!
