I know some folks are going to say "You don't need to break in the barrel." But I'm going to do it anyways. I'm going to shoot, then clean for the first 10 rounds. Then shoot 3 and clean, 3 more and clean, final 3 more then clean. I have 3 copper erasers powders. CFE 223, AR COMP and IMR 4166. Anyone better than the others After break in it will be Varget and 165 SGK's. Thanks

If you’re going to break it in right, clean after every shot for the first 50 shots. Then after every 2 shots for the next 26 shots. Then after every three shots for 21 shots.

Bore guide is essential, don’t use a copper brush, use nylon.

But that only adds up to 97 shots, not the magic 100!

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I figure it can't hurt. I clean before I shoot it, shot it once, clean it, and then clean it every 3 shots for the first 20 or so. May not make a difference, but cleaning ever 3 shots allows the barrel to cool between groups when I'm dialing in the scope. After that, I just clean it after I get home from the range.

Ah, yes!

I knew there's a more specifically scientific answer, but forgot about 3.142......

Doesn't bore area also have something to do with it?

The angle to the dangle has to equal the heat of the meat.
So stroke your bore, only one way.. A true outdoorsmen only goes one way.

I think the OP knows, he just wants to do it.

It will keep him busy for a while.

this is prob more important than 'breaking' in the barrel

Sako barrels are good....as mentioned nylon brush...bore guide

Don't fry eggs on the barrel either
