Was a 7 handicap before I fell off a roof five years ago. I have been unable to play since.

LOSER!

I could still whip your ass on the course with my one arm that still works and a twice broken back. grin

I play one or two rounds a year when I go visit Pops down in Komifornia. I used to play weekly until I moved to Ak. Never considered myself very good, but did Ace a short par 4 one time.

Fun game, I just have too many other expensive hobbies these days.

I recently have taken up the game myself, I sold a number of my guns to buy decent clubs and a membership. Guess I am getting tired of hunting and shooting.

Those two gave Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus a run for their money.

You'd have to be a low class POS to bet against a one armed man.

$100 a hole.

Good stuff Jimmy.

What kind of clubs did you buy?

Putting contest only. That hedges any bet with an amateur.

When in my early 20s I taught tennis. In my late 20s and 30s I was a scratch golfer and gave lessons at our county course. Twenty years ago I was still a 7 handicap. I wasn't always in my 70s, 40 pounds overweight, and twice broken. wink

These "golden years" are a fraud. They're brass and tarnished.

I'm playing the best golf of my life at age 73, soon to be 74. Because I've finally stopped trying to kill the ball and started making better contact (when my sometimes spastic swing allows!) When I swing smoothly I can shape a shot, the ball actually goes farther, and none of me hurts after a full walking round.

The pros might do better getting buff and swinging for the fences every time, but they're in their 20s - and have more talent than I do. For me, it is FAR better to let the club do the work.

Rog, I hope those were decent balls and not some "prior swimmers" or mostly Top Flight cheapies. Current Titleists, Taylormades, and Callaways are going for over $4 a ball, older ones and lesser brands about half that.

No.

I've been told that's largely overrated.

Depends on if they do it right. It’s only overrated if you don’t like ten or twenty extra yards with your drives.
