If it looks like Lightfoot's rotor, then it may be the original rotor from the rifle. In fact, it's likely the original I'd think.

You say you can't load a second round. Can you tell us specifically what happens when you try to load 30-30 cartridge into it? Push down on the cartridge and backwards at the same time. Where does it jam up? Or does the rotor just not turn enough? Can you reach in with fingers and get it to turn?

Perhaps some bubba had the rotor out at one time and incorrectly installed it.

I will inspect closer to figure exactly why it will not load. The gunsmith said it rotates proper but wont accept a second round. I will report what I discover. Also I just ordered Cerrasafe, so hopefilly I will be able to make a chamber cast next weekend. I think you guys are right and it is a 30-30. But this will settle it once and for all.

Just like the gunsmith said. The roter does rotate all the way around. As it should. When I got around to between where the 4th and 5th round goes, the seperator on the roter is gone ( broken off). So another reason to replace it. I was able to load 4 rounds, but I had to push down on the end of the casing to get another tound in. The radius of the cradle where the round goes is larger than a 30-30. More like a 300 sav. with that said, I think the carrier is for a 300 sav and should be carrier for a 30-30. I think the problem with loading is the larger cradle with the smaller 30-30 round meant the carrier was not rotating far enough for the next round to clear the tab that seperates one round from the next. I have a picture of a 30-30 loaded. This showes hoe much smaller it is than the space alloted for it in the rotor. I also have a picture of the broken devider. Now if I can figure out how to upload them. Chamber casting still to do. When I get the cerrisafe.

Here is a link to a photo of a group of rotors that Tal35 posted sometime back:

I think you would be better off to replace the whole assembly. I have some on hand so let me know.

I don't know if there is any difference between the .303 and the .30-30 rotor. Anyone have any info on that?

Oddly enough, the .303 rotor and the 22HP rotors look identical to me. I've even measure different parts of them and can't see the difference. But for whatever reason most of the 22HP rotors are marked.

I do want to do the chambercast before getting another rotor. I have a few questions though. Is the 1 through 5 stamped on the side of the rotor. Is it brass or steal? and what do you mean by the whole assembly? and how much to purchase. I can give you my Email if you prefer. My membership level will not allow me to send private message. Maybe you can send me one. Thanks
