It is the Feast of Saint Hubert. I want to wish all of you the best of it.
KYHillChick and I will be leading the neighborhood pageant again this year. I'm trying to get the buttons to fasten-- the leather must shrink every year. KYHillChick is having the same trouble getting into her Drmdl. Angus will be playing the Duddlesak as always.
Any good Saint Hubert's Day stories? I'd love to hear them.

I think it was 2005 that someone on here was moaning that Christmas was hard on deer hunters. Any neat gear they got couldn't really be tried out until the next year. I suggested that, in deer hunting families, they move their gift-giving to Saint Hubert's Day on 11/3. To quote my article from 2014: https://genesis9.angzva.com/?p=3797 According to legend, Hubertus went hunting on Good Friday and saw a stag with a cross between its antlers. The deer gave Hubertus the riot act and lectured him on Fair Chase. A talking deer was too much for Humbertus, who fell to his knees and prayed to God, promising to give up drinking Jaeger Bombs. When he got back to town, he renounced everything and became a holy man.
Moral: Jagermeister is bad for you.

Thanks Shaman! Enjoy the day!

I think St Hubertus was a married man with family. His family was wiped out in a war, and he became a hermit. While hunting, God came to him to rejoin the people and unite for God. Naturally that is what he did as a bishop, then saint. There is a ton of related items on ebay for this saint. I want to get a large brass casting of the picture you have above.
