Wondering if any of you fellas have a favorite deer call/technique?
Up until now I've primarily been a still hunter. Move around slowly and see what you bump, look for buck trails and sit on them, etc.
I'm getting good pictures of a couple bucks regularly appearing in one location and want to try calling one out though. Looking at using a doe in estrus scent, and pairing it with a Primo's Can call and some tending grunts.
What do you do or what have you found works?

C’mere deer. Seriously, I have 1 left of 2 and they work IF deer are in hearing. If they can’t hear it...... obviously..... I don’t know if they’re on the market or not.
I have used grunt tubes with spotty results.
The call I use the most is MY bleat to get deer to STOP and they do. Bucks & Doe s both. I have pix or bucks that I’ve stopped simply by bleating with my voice.

Jerry I had one of those, might still have it somewhere. Made by Lohman(?) K'meer Deer JMHO- I very seldom make any noise that I can help from making where I hunt at. The deer are very wary and if something isn't just right, they'll turn and slip away without a sound. Most won't hardly even blow if they get jumped. I've tried to make a noise to try and stop one a couple of times, and they moved along that much faster

Ranger I'm not arguing with you. Here's a buck I stopped MID step by bleating with my voice. The ONLY reason he walked, it was DOE only season. Had a 7 RM in hand. EDIT - don't know what happened, 1st pic disappeared. I replaced it. SAME. My Son was with me when I stopped thisun by bleating and he said, I can't believe you got him to stop. I have pix of dead dear i stopped but you can't tell that I stopped them by bleating. This buck lifted his head the last time when I bleated. Jerry

Hunters Specialties true talker. I've had it for years. I've also owned a few others but only have the true talker now. Never had a lot of success with grunting. Its a great way to get deer to look up at you if get even that response. Bleating is more effective. Primos "the can" has worked at bringing deer in on occasion. Nothing is better than good scouting, getting in your tree, remaining still and silent, and leaving your calls at home.

Jerry As long as they aren't spooked/fleeing, we've had good luck with that too, Jerry. Good way to make them at least stop leaving, if not freeze and give you a shot opportunity. Just a real subtle bleat. Cool pictures!

I have used my varmint call as a fawn distress and on numerous occasion had doe come charging out of the bushes. My thinking is they are looking to tangle with coyote or something but very aggressive.

At this point, probably none.
But if I had to pick one, I'd say the can call.

Yoopers like a running chain saw. That’s funny I know what you’re talking about. On a little different note my dad tells a story about cutting cedar in the winter on a big club around here and they couldn’t figure out why the deer would come out to the road when they would drive in with the log truck. Well they were working on a Sunday and the owners brought in a dump truck full of corn and drove around with the gait open so a loud truck works sometimes too. In all seriousness though I’ve had good luck with the can at the right time of year but that’s about it.

The Duel Stretchback is by far the best grunt tube I’ve ever used in 30 years of buying deer calls. The lowest setting(oldest buck) has gotten the best responses.
*Just checked Duel’s website and they don’t have em, not sure if they’re discontinued or just sold out. Prices are crazy around the internet, prompted me to buy an extra one on eBay, just in case.
For doe calls, I haven’t found better than blowing into the small hole on the back of a primos can call.

Have called in and killed both bucks and does with them.

A good pair of rattling antlers. Timing has to be right or I don't use them. When they work it is pretty exciting.
