We had an excellent hunting season.

1st up was Muzzleloader elk season. I had an either sex tag and a cow tag. My good buddy that goes by imgoofy here and graybird on other forums joined me. It was a super tough hunt conditions wise but we managed to fill out. He tagged a great 6 point shooting 300 gr. Thor bullets out of his CVA Accura V2. He snuck right up on him and killed him at 20 yards in full Swahili mode..

I was able to get a wise ol cow and her calf on the last morning we had to hunt. I used home cast and powder coated Lee REAL bullets. I killed the cow at 142 yards and her calf at 184 yards with my Accura V2

It’s a way tough hunt that I have home field advantage on..

Calf elk ribs and heart, phenomenal eats...

Cooked the ribs in the Instapot for an hour and finished them on the grill with a mop of BBQ sauce cut with a little Dr. Pepper. It was way tender and moist.

Heart is my favorite meal but not too much of it.

Next up was doe antelope hunt.

It was great fun. Was able to dust a coyote and got the antelope at 340 yards standing off the shooting sticks. Shooting a model 70 .270 Win shooting 130 gr. Hornady SP

Spent the next couple days turning her into several kinds of delicious sausages..

Not too many women who’d put up with this. Glad mine not only lets me but supports it...

Next up was buck season.

I took time out on my birthday to use my 30 year old birthday present, .20 Cal Sheridan air rifle to add one more meal to the freezer on a morning that was well below zero degrees.

It was a tough buck hunt but I was still able to take a nice 4x4 with my .270 shooting 130 Nos PT.

My wife was able to get her buck as well despite being 6 months pregnant. It was a chore but she made a great shot in a nice 2 year old 4x3 with her Kimber Classic 84 .260 Rem shooting 125 gr. Nosler PT.. she couldn’t get down to the buck and my 10 year old was awesome help getting him packed out.

All in all it was an awesome hunt and we have plenty of meat for our family of soon to be 6..

Thanks for reading,

Todd

well....YEAH! ! ! FAR out !!

I'm glad to see someone using 'shooting sticks'. I had mine for some time and used them occasionally UNTIL
2012. Since then I'm hunting family property and STILL hunting.
" I never leave home without them", to hunt.
