Well my gunwhore nature got the better of me Saturday morning.
I went by a local shop and there on the shelf was a near mint condition Ruger 77 tang safety 7x57 with a Canjar trigger and gloss finished 3-9 Burris Fullfield scope in what looks like Warne QD rings.
I simply could not resist and it followed me home. The serial number says: 1972 mfg.
Pictures to follow as soon as I can. (our power just came back on after 3 days due to that damned Zeta storm).
Anybody got any pet loads for one of these old Ruger 7x57's? I had one of those, but didn't like the stock. Later I bought a CZ550 in 7x57. After I found out that it would shoot, I got rid of the Ruger. Both shot the 150 gr. Nosler Partition with IMR4350 well.

Bought mine in the fall of 1975 brand new in the box for $160 . It's never given me any cause to bitch about it. Nice gun. Mb

The one i had would put factory ammo (175 gr) in one ragged hole. It must have been accurized with a bedding job and possibly trigger upgrade.

I have one in 6mm rem that doesn't shoot worth a darn. Actually, it will hold 1" groups for about 10-12 shots, then groups will open up to 2-3" till you scrub the bore clean.

Anybody got any pet loads for one of these old Ruger 7x57's? Don't ya hate it when a rifle does that to you? Ya let it sniff your hand, ya give it a little scratch behind the ears and before ya know it, it hops into the back seat like it belongs there. Had the same rifle in 6mm Rem do that to me one day.

I've been shooting 160 grain Partitions over 47.0 grains of H4350 for years. It shoots lights out. Try that load; I think you'll like it.

I have wanted to shoot 140 gr Partitions, Ballistic Tips, and TTSX in my M70 featherweight but not the best accuracy with several powders. My Savage seems to like the 145 LRX so I may move the M70 into the 150-160 weight class. Ideally, I can get one of them to shoot 139 or 145 LRX under an inch at 100 and the other to do the same with 160 gr Partitions or AB. I’d need a snorkel to get on my range now from all the rain.
