there is a specialized gunsmith tool for this...

I did this fix on the fly (while traveling for a guy) and should have taken pictures of it, these are of the Text pictures he took of the before and after for me.
The light in the after pic makes is look a tiny bit bent... but neither of us could figure out where it was bent after I tweaked it back into place with the tool.

I think the shotgun (Beretta 390) slide off something and hit the rib straight on..

After using the tool
the light in the picture makes it look bent a slight amount, but we couldn’t see that... heck we couldn’t find where it was bent after looking for it once it was done.

I have that tool - and have used it a dozen times or so over the last 20+ years... It works really well - just have to be very careful in its application... smile

I always used two of the special tools; one from each side with a piece of aluminum flashing over the barrel. GD

I just use a large flat blade screwdriver wrapped in a piece of leather.

So is that your tool?

I use long thin hardwood wedges, one from each side.

I have the Murray's Vent Rib tool. Used it to straighten the rib on a Benelli Super Black Eagle. Worked great.

I initially considered using a pry bar type tool (like a flathead screwdriver), but was worried I might pop one of the solders off.
