Nebraska's only got like, one black guy. I think it's Tiger Woods. I used to use Cosby for this, but obviously he don't work any more. OJ crossed himself off the list before that.
You're thinking of Wayne Brady.

They're one of the easiest and best things you can learn to smoke.
Easily done on an inexpensive upright like what Brinkmann makes. People usually get too fancy with them but if you keep it basic with just a little bit of smoke and a water pan, they are about as good as a turkey gets.

Yes you would. I smoked one fpr Thanksgiving one year when my in laws were still living. Brought that thing in the house, and my MIL exclaimed, “You burned it!”
Then I started slicing it, and the juice started running everywhere. She ate turkey until she was miserable.😂
turk was one of my earliest bbq successes in my brinkman days. they are really easy. the way i do it is to first make sure it is thoroughly thawed and then i use the same rub that i do for ribs and coat the cavity and under the breast skin real good. i don't bother with injections but you could. i put it in a foil pan to catch the juice along with the innards and then get the WSM up to 250-ish and keep in on for 5 hours or so, give or take. i use a thermo pen to get a quick reading and when its around 165 i pull it out and let it rest for 15 min or so. i strain and use the juice and chopped innards for gravy. i would do it every thanksgiving but my wife and daughter are not real big fans of it or smoked ham, which it kinda tastes like.

Any of you guys do the turkey fryer thing? I've heard good things but never tried one.
We started frying them about 15 years ago. They're far superior to any turkey I've ever had smoked or baked. Frying is not overrated at all, done right with lots of injected marinade it's fantastic.
DelFarve: How do it taste bro? I saw the TV ad about these and my mouth began to water! Nearest "Popeye's" is 165 miles each way from me - sadly. Enjoy. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Flave, truer words were never spoken. I had an old Brinkman SmokenGrill upright I paid ~ $24 for back in the day. I smoked hundreds of lbs of turkey, fish, meat and everything else under the sun on it. My ex-wife finally threw it out one day while I was at work because she thought it was ugly. (The bottom had rusted out). Lol.
As long as you keep that water pan NOT EMPTY and smoke / heat going, you're golden.
