Here's one that I've been patiently waiting for. Rem 700 C-grade from the custom shop; it may be the last one shipped before the close-down. Caliber is .25-06, 24" sporter-weight barrel, BDL-type bottom metal. These come stock with a Timney trigger (set at 3 lbs) and steel floorplate/trigger guard (PT&G). I had the custom shop add a red pad, longer length of pull (13.75"), an oil-finished stock and hand-cut checkering. Scope is a Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40mm in Talley steel rings. So far, it likes Barnes TTSX 100 gr and 100 gr Feds with Nosler Ballistic Tips. More testing coming up, but so far, it's worth the wait.

A nice piece of C-grade wood

Neat hand-checkering job. I had them copy a pattern that is normally machine-cut. Came out pretty good

Floorplate/triggerguard is a steel PT&G unit, which is far better than the pot metal alloy of the standard 700s

Glad it escaped before the shutdown. You were really lucky it didn't get caught in the bankruptcy and you didn't get screwed out of your deposit.

That's one beaut of a rifle! Just that, well, what a sad pity... It's all BACKWARDS, oh my! Dang mirror image!!! smile smile smile

More seriously, you may be luckier than you realize. "IF", your custom shop order & payment to Remington, before their bankruptcy filing date, you might well have lost both the rifle and whatever payment. If such "pre-bankruptcy contract and yet that rifle in your hands... Be very grateful! You might still be without warranty but "possession" is worth 90 points for sure!
Did your get any paperwork suggesting warranty? Just an inquiring mind. Otherwise...

Big congrats on achieving that nice rifle in "damn the torpedoes" environs.

Best & Stay Safe!

According to my dealer (who has his business close by in Sturgis, and talks with the custom shop folks weekly), my rifle went out the day before shutdown. He (the dealer) has several rifles ordered and waiting to be shipped out, or in various stages of completion, but no one is at work. Everyone has been furloughed. Still up in the air on what's going to happen to Dakota Arms or the Rem custom shop.

What's nice about this rifle is the workmanship. Matt (owner of Hill Country Rifles) and I went over it, including the chamber and bore, and it's impressive. Bedding and checkering are flawless. At least there wasn't any "throw it together and get it out the door" evidence.

I wonder if Talley makes engraved rings? I have Talleys and a Leupold scope on mine also.

Beautiful rifle; my tastes would have leaned to a classic, non-monte carlo stock though.

No exposure to any newer version Custom Shop guns, but the older ones that I've had / seen were outstanding shooters..........CS had special barrels as I recall.

Nice chambering too; enoy.
