This one of Josh Clarke's new "Talon" model belt knives. The design is a sleek Warncliffe style blade useful for everything from detail caping , filleting fish or any kind of carving /precise slicing. It's also just a great little EDC knife.
The handle design is a classic birdshead with a nice oval handle cross section. At about 4 ounces, the knife and sheath combo disappears on your belt. A very handsome and usefull little knife.
The dimensions are 8.25 " overall length with a 3.75" The blade that is thinly flat ground ground from .125" thick 1095 stock. Heat treat at 58-59 RC.- sharp as h*ll and holds the edge nicely, yet easy to sharpen. It is deeply marked with Josh's "Broadsword" maker's stamp.
The Fancy airdried scales were hand picked from Josh's wood inventory . They are gorgeous dark stained "Hawken Brown" Eastern Curly Maple and figured end to end. The curl ripples down the length of the scales and the pics DO NOT do them justice!
They are all attached with hand set brass pins and lanyard tube epoxied with Brownell's Acraglass. Then they are finished in Josh's shop blend of Tung oil and Spar varnish for a velvety, yet tough finish. Also included is one of his beautifull hand stiched pouch sheaths.
These little knives make all around EDC blades.
