Anyone have hands on experience with either, or preferably, both? Always wanted an Aug and figured better buy one now while I still can. Looking, and the tavor pops up. Found one local for $1600 with a lot of extras/upgrades. Saw reviews that said Tavor is better shooting standing, walking, running. The Aug is a classic and always heard accurate. Probably use an aim point.

Interesting topic to watch.
I never shot either, only handled. I like the AUG myself.

The aug has a nitrided barrel, chrome for Tavor. The Tavor would be my choice. Chrome lined, Cold hammer forged, CrMoV

I have about 90-100 rounds through each - the Aug was years ago, the Tavor in the last couple of years. Tavor was bulkier, felt "clunky", and wasn't as much "wow" as I had expected - but if you want one, I'd handle it before dropping the payment. I honestly couldn't get away from thinking expensive "Kel-Tec" while shooting it. Red dot sight at 50 yards - we are keeping it on center mass, with no accuracy analysis.

Bought a new aug a few years ago, first mag had a jam, sent it back to sports south and they replaced the bolt. After that it worked but just sold it after that. Lack of confidence in it. I have a couple x95 and a couple SAR and a couple 308. Love all of them.

Trigger sucks on Aug, but about the only negative I can think of?

I’d buy the AUG if for no other reason than $1600 with a lot of upgrades is a good price especially in today’s market.

I had an AUG. Shouldn't have let it go. They are nice.Tavor seems bulkier to me.

Aug is time-proven. How many iterations did the M-16/AR-15 go through before the M4 and became reliable?
Wait for the Tavor to have more time in the field before buying one, IMHO.

Israelis have been using a verson of the Tavor (TAR-21) for a long time. Since early 2002, plenty of time to get the bugs out. SAR was the semi version of the TAR
