Let's pick on the Babtists for a while . . . . . .

I knew a Babtist once that smoked and drank and cussed and hung around with lewd women . . . . . how could a man like that get forgiveness, and they all must be like that. wink

I'll have you know that I've never smoked in my life. Not tobacco, anyway.

Seems a smidge petty to make a comment like that, don't ya think?

Catholics believe in a combination of faith and works (which IS Scriptual).

Anyway, in answer to your question, in the Church's view Protestants are "saved" if they are sincere and live the faith as they should.

That's the most unscriptual thing I've seen posted in a while. In fact it goes directly against the Holy Bible which states, " For by Grace are ye saved through Faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the Gift of God. Not of Works, lest any man boast."

There are 1.2 BILLION of us worldwide

Do you think all of these folks are wrong??

Deceived certainly. There are more Communists Worldwide. Does that somehow make it better?

The word of God is clear and we don't need a human High Priest once the middle wall of partition was torn down. Thank God for the Protestors thru the centuries who stood up against the catholic church and preserved the Holy Word though millions were Murdered in the process...

Anyway, I'm now gone from CATC. Have a great time picking on each other.

Steve

PS. If you were to do a poll of the members of 24HourCampfire, you would find that of the church-going folks, the majority are Roman Catholic. That is worth a bit of thought. [/quote]

Thanks for your reply. Again the question was sincere. I have only one close friend who is Catholic and due to a relocation on my part we only touch base a few time a year now.....I seldom post here either largely because it can get ugly, however on this thread more have seemed to be bridge builders rather than Catholic bashers???? So there must be alot of "history" on this topic...???
Lastly, I am wondering how the claim you make in the PS is supported....but I'm not planning to press that matter.

Now go shoot something with one of your walking varminters will ya! BTW reading about those guns in Varmint Hunter has caused me to spend alot of $ wink

Cheaha

I wouldn't make a very good Baptist laugh but a great big, loud Baptist type AMEN to what you just said!

O, when them Catholics light candles for someone, do they use Roman candles? Just wondering........

The paradox in that statement is quite amusing. wink Could be taken a lot of different ways.

Yep real funny. But at someone else's expense, not yours. That makes it so much funnier, doesn't it?

That is the gospel, right? Make it at someone's else's expense, not mine.

I just got around to reading a bit of what the Pope said and it is the same old thing--get a leg up while you can on the opposition. I'm in power and it time for a shift. Politics as usual.

The opposition of course, are really those of a doctrinal variation within the Catholic church. Sure it is at the public expense of the rest of the church (Protestants) but the motive is internal.

And what does any of that have to do with the gospel? Well nothing really.

But the Popes stuff is provides an opportunity here to bolster points and jab someone on this "Christian" board. "See, the group you belong to, sucks, man, here's is proof...of course if I knew you personally and you were important to me and my designs, well, my approach would be different...after all we would then be in relationship"

So what is the motive behind this crap? It is all about being right about where you stand at the expense of the other guy who must disagree with you--because of something the Pope said.

Straighten me out please, gents. I thought laying it down was a lot like getting run over, not running others over.
