Never have owned a 257 Roberts until this weekend when I picked up one for a gun show. It's a 1999 model gun and in great condition!

Having never loaded for this round, I'm looking for some input. I have brand new brass, 100 gr Barnes TTSX bullets, Fed 210M and CCI 200 primers, and several powders. I have H4350, IMR 4350, Varget, IMR 4831, IMR 4064, and several others. Would really like to get some info with these powders listed because, as you know, powder is scarce.

Does anyone have this same gun and handload for it or does anyone have these components and have a good pet load for me to try out?

***I know not all guns shoot the same as other guns and will need to be verified for safety first. Just trying to get some starting points!***

I have the exact same rifle. Got mine in 93. I have used 47.0 grains of IMR 4350 with 100 gr Sierra Game King since the beginning. No desire to change.

Brian Pearce just did a reloading article in the latest Handloader (I think) about +P loads in a Ruger M77

I load 115 ballistic tips and RL19 in my Ruger, but a very common load for the 100 grain bullets is 46 grains (+ or -) of H4350.

Generally, 257 Roberts loads have began and ended with 4350, usually IMR for me. More than one article (and reloading manual) pretty much have stated the same. Mine adores IMR-4350 and a 100 grain partition. About 42-43 grains.

Don't be afraid of 3100+ fps with a 100 grain bullet from a modern bolt action. Look at 6mm Rem. data, and anything it can do the 257 can do faster.

I have two Ruger Hawkeyes in .257 Roberts. H4350 would be my pick and load to around 3100fps in a 22 inch barrel. My favourite .257 bullet is the 100gn Hornady if you can find them. But the 100gn Ballistic Tip also works very well as the does the 100gn Partition and Scirocco. Great buy.

I bought a tang safety Ruger made around 1980/1981 I think, in almost new condition, but it was not a real good shooter with the best loads going around 1 1/2 inch. Most loads were around 2 inches. Both my Hawkeyes will beat that easily so I rebarreled it.

Pretty much like everyone here I'm loading 46gr H-4350. 100 Partition, Federal 210m, Nosler brass. 3030fps from my Ruger Hawkeye 20" barrel, and 3190-3200 from my 26" Ruger No.1.
