I've got some anecdotal stories that are hard to explain.

No, not a big sasquatch fan, but coatimundis have been big news in Arizona the last few months.

Apparently, there has been a pretty good sized population that has moved into some parts of AZ, NM, and SW TX.

I am curious who here has come across them in these areas?

Coatimundis come from South America, Central America and, Mexico.

We have fam and friends in So. Az who have seen these creepy little racoon/monkey hybrids in little packs recently on backroads.

Funky little critters!

Hell no. Some backwoods/swamp bowhunter would have got video/game camera/cellphone footage or shot one by now. That being said, do I believe that something like a 'giant hominid' existed on the continent previously (~400 years or earlier)? Maybe.

The zipping sound of his synthetic mask dripping while on fire reminded me of when we used to climb up in the rafters of my friend's garage when kids and light plastic dinosaurs and "army men" on fire and listen to them melt.

Could be "word of mouth" passed down over the centuries. I recall some documentary on the yeti where it was thought possible that some dangerous primate, or possibly bear, species could have existing thousands of years ago that initiated the stories. The info, to some extent, got passed down as stories through the centuries long after the species died out. Fear turned it into some sort of mystical beast. There are some "monsters" in Aboriginal tales that some believe has a basis on the megafauna that were present in cohabitation with the Aborigines - the Aborigines have been here in Aussie for 60,000 years.

Do you think they caught a ride with some wetbacks across the rio, or maybe some exotic pets escaped?

Too many good hunters with great optics out there. If it existed, it would be well known.

Neither is my guess. SW USA is very fringe territory for them, but there have been increased sightings of the little monkey-ish coon-ish fuggers for some time now.

They are pretty interesting. Like a lot of invasive species, I guess we won't know the harm, if any, until they get established. Farmers probably won't like them.....unless they eat racoons and coyotes.

I'm open to the idea. Just to many viewings, and tracks and such to explain away if there's nothing out there. Some things can't be faked like footprints, with skin swirls. More than a few scientists are having a hard time explaining some of this away. Some of the viewers have been credible witnesses. I'm open to explanations of all this "evidence" . If it can be explained away, fine. If not... I don't want to toss it out with out an explanation. One thing is for sure, the people who have seen "things" certainly believe it. And, no, I haven't seen anything, including things I hunt for frequently. Certainly some of the people who have seen "something" haven't done their business any good, so it's not enhancing to your reputation. People are taking a serious risk to admit they've seen something.
