A year ago I started this project. I appreciated the advice I got from Campfire forums. Thanks Thought I would post a pic of thefinal outcome. I ended up using
a an older Savage 110 action, McGowen 26 inch barrel with a 1:8 twist. Boyd's laminate stock, Leuppod 4.5-14 Vx-3i. I am using Hornady 143gr ELD-X bullets in front of 55.5 gr of RL-22. At 42 degrees it radar chronographed at 3054fps. I am a little concerned what it will do in really hot weather. I couldn't go much more without starting to see ejector marks. But with the accuracy I am happy. I did a 10 shot continuous string at the range to get it a little warm. FIrst 3 shots were 3/8 of an inch, the next 5 were a total of 5/8". The last 2 opened up because of me. Not the rifle. Actually the 5 that opened up made their own tight group so I probably did something there but not sure what. This rifle along with my 300 Win Mag should have me covered for whatever I would hunt in Idaho. There should be two pics here if I did this correctly. First time I think I have tried to do an image on here. [img]
