I use H4831 for 154 - 160's. Once upon a time I loaded some 120 NBT's with RE15.

40 grains of 3031 with a 170 Sierra or Hornady 175 SP or RN, out of both my Ruger and my Model 70 FWT...
yielded 2650 fps out of the muzzle...both with 22 inch barrels...seated to magazine length....

the manual said it should be yielding only 2400 fps...but I've shot plenty of both, and it has read 2650 from my chrony,
and a couple of other folks chrony, of different brands...

Well, I just couldn’t get my Brno ZKK 7x57 to shoot as well as I had hoped with IMR4350. Decided to give 43 grains of IMR4320 and 140 Partitions a try and found a load I am happy with. Headed hunting next week.

What manual did you find that in Seafire? I've looked around and can't find it anywhere. Curious though, that's honkin' with 175's, and I've got plenty of 3031 as well as RL22.

RL 19 does it for me.
51gr. under a 145 Speer HC, PPU brass, Fed 210 primers. 2790 fps, 1” groups at 100 meters from my 23” custom barreled Ruger 1A. Perfect (for me) on deer sized critters. The only 7x57 load that I bother with.

I found it in the Hornady manuals #1, 2 and 3 for openers. Too lazy to check numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Yes, I have all those manuals. IIRC, Seafire once said he found that data in a Hornady manual.

ya it was out of an old Hornady Manual I have somewhere packed away here....

we moved 2 summers ago... 2018.. 2/3s of my world is still sitting in boxes, with Lord knows what in them...

But remember it well... had a pair of 7 x 57 Rugers, I got brand new.. and neither one would shoot worth a damn..
.5 to 8 inch groups at 100 yds.... I had bought the second one at a good price also, and was going to rebarrel one to
257 Roberts....or 6mm Remington... OR else just throw them in the Rogue River or Crater Lake...

One day while standing at the reload bench, I had a batch of 7 mm brass sitting there, so I decided to try one more thing, and there was a container of 3031 on the Reload bench.. and some 139 Grain SP from Hornady... so looked at the manual, and it had a load of 40 grains of 3031... so I thought, what the hell.. I'll give it one more try.. Loaded up 10 and went over to the range..

WTH? 1/2 inch group at 100 yds... that can't be right.. second batch of 5 gave me the same thing...

went home and reloaded those, with a 175 grain bullet that time... 10 more rounds...
two more 5 shot groups of 100 yds, tried that with 160s, 154s, 150 grain, 140 Corelokt... all 1/2 inch groups...

so that is how it came about... sold one to a campfire member in West VA... and passed on the load... which worked well for him..

My Model 70 Featherweight on the other hand will shoot ANYTHING I hand load, thinking it is a varmint rifle...

I can vouch for Seafire's load of 40 grains of IMR-3031. I had a box of 500 Remington 150 two diameter bullets that would surprise me at times with a group as small as 3 inches. Tried the above load and now every group has been 1.5" or less which some will sneer at but, I'll certainly take that over what I was getting. Can't duplicate that accuracy using those bullets with any other powder even at the same velocity.
