Has anyone have experience harvesting whitetail with the nosler partition 125 grain 6.5 bullet I have a 6.5 x55. In a model 1640 husky.

Yes sir. I have used the 125 grain Partition out of a swede on Whitetails. Expect no surprises. Good accuracy, entrance and exits, short blood trails if you hit them right.

My 640 and 1640 both have deep throats and are a little more accurate with longer bullets. Both rifles shoot better groups with the 140 grain Partition than with the 125 grain Partition.

The 123 Scenar shoots better than the 125 NPT my Creed, the 139 Scenar, best in my Swede. Those are known to perform well on WT's.

The 130 NAB is also a good one. I loaded some for my Bud, shooting his new Mauser-18 Creed. He's very pleased with performance on two bucks, good exits, lots of chest destruction, hearts pulverized, quick kills. A Creed, not a Swede, but those aren't that far apart. Deer don't know the difference.

Anytime a Partition shoots very well in a rifle, I'm pleased. Can't go wrong with a NPT...

The 100 NPT is the most accurate bullet in my HS Precision, 240 Wby. Not always the case, but a good deal when it happens.

What is a scenar construction?

Is it like a partition hollow point?

An old bud of mine used em in a 6.5x284.

He liked them for the short time he used that rifle.

Typical Partition performance. Good destruction, exits and short blood trails.

Used them in Crudmoor and 264 Win mags. Typical perfect performers

Cross section looks like a Berger, but Scenars seem to hold together better, don’t seem to frag as bad. They must have a harder core alloy.

Berger doesn’t recommend their Hunting VLD’s to exceed 3,100 fps. Pat pushes Scenars a bit faster and gets great terminal performance.

But common sense needs to be used. I turned a WT doe’s chest to soup with a 90 gr. Scenar at full speed out of a .240 Wby. Once was enough. That gun now a dedicated 100 gr NPT shooter.

Current hunting load for my Creed is with the Scenar 136L; my Swede is set up with 139 Scenars over MRP.

My 6.5 hunting has been with 125gr Partitions and 129gr Hornady. They have both worked very well.

It seems my husky chambers awkwardly with 140 especially the last round. Seems they are too long.

Using 140 s. So I am curious how she does with 125 s ......got some 85 s to try.....varmit loads.

On deer or antelope, I see no reason to use premium bullets like the NPT when the excellent Hornady 129 sp works so well. Actually, I’ve used the Hornady 129 on a couple of very large cow elk with perfect results.....

Friend's wife used the same 129 Hornady IL on a rag-horn bull elk earlier this week as well. 150yds, broadside, dropped @ the shot and nary a wiggle.

I was given a bunch of 6.5, 135 gr. A-Tips, load them with 38.0 gr. of Varget, CCI 200 OAL 2.810 they shoot very well, and I have killed a bunch of Exotics and W.T. and Pigs, about 60 critters so far, with them, good pass thru's, but don't shoot Coyotes or Bobcat's with them, if you save the hides. My experience with 135gr A Tips on 7 roe deer does has been disastrous. They are small animals that weigh around 45-50 lbs on the hoof.

Catridge was a 6,5x57R, distances 150-350 yards, Bullets would either not expand or expand on the exit side when they did hit the scapula at the humerus end on their way out, causing an horrendous exit superficial wound and almost no damage inside.

All shots we were placed and I would have lost some of the does were it ot for the help of my Bavarian Mtn. Bloodhound.

All of them were gralloched and the bullet channel carefully inspected, not taking any deductions from the apprearance of entry or exit wounds.

Maybe it was just a faulty lot, or maybe the light bodies did not offer enough resistence to start expansion, but that has been my experience with them.

chamios, Your results have been much different than mine, you got some bad a-tips or I got some good ones, I have never shot a critter more than once with mine, and some of the critters have been 500# plus, those Roe deer must be tough little critters. Rio7

the 125 pt is very very good. at your speeds it will be the go to for everything. hogs hate it, lots of DRT [ dead right there ] . elk don't like it either. after 25 to 30 deer I look for nothing else but if I do it would be 120 bt. hope you enjoy the great results and eat well. D O M I T !
