Looking at getting a scope for my 270wsm that I can dial for distance out to 850yards in a hunting scenario, I currently have a swaro z4(i) 2.5-10 x56 but it’s not suited for this need , what are peoples thoughts on the vortex strike eagle for this ? Thanks in advance Bigriver!

I have one on a target rifle that works wonderfully but not sure I'd trust one on big game without further testing. I have the MIL version on a 6.5CM and I've dialed it to 500 and back a couple hundred times and its worked perfectly.

I've got 3 on guns that are essentially play & range guns & with minimum dialing use, they've been OK & have adjusted just fine.

I just can't get by being able to not not fully trust them though & haven't beat them up enough to make me feel good about anything more than casual use. Serious use is reserved to Nightforce for me, period.

But there are some good buys on the Strike Eagle 3-18x, which is discontinued & 2 of the 3 that I have are that model.............for the money, as long as they work, they are worth the price, especially if they keep fixing it when it eventually breaks & if you are narrow in how you use it or beat it up enough to know it won't fail when you need it not to.

To clarify, I was speaking to my experience with a 5-25x56 FFP model. I do not have any experience with the older SFP models.

Thanks yeah the 5-25 x56 ffp is what I’m thinking of obviously I’d test it first dialling out to distance is there a reason not to trust it? , I have diamondbacks and razor binoculars and a razor red dot all work flawlessly, don’t have any scopes that’s why I’m considering this path
