I paddled off into the Big Branch Marsh NWR this morning. I arrived at preferred blind location only to find a couple other paddlers already set up there with a huge spread. On my way to my alternate location, I found a place that looked decent. I set up there. This is my view from the blind before sunrise. Sunrise on the marsh is a very special treat. Here's a view of my blind. Here I am packed up with my only bird paddling back in. I had a few hunters not too far from me who couldn't have stuck out more if they had a disco ball hanging over their head. I took one shot and had one kill. A few more birds flew close, but I think the other hunters had them hanging high.

🤪 I'll just scatter a bunch of rice there and let the man know about their illegal activities.

Water Moccasin's dormant? This one. Bag of 10 dekes in the well. Blind material and gun in floating case bungeed to the bow straps. Blind box and folding stool in between my feet up front. Emergency kit and extras tucked in behind the seat. 2, 5 foot dowels in the rod holders. I clip a 360 white light on one for the paddle out and use them to support blind material on site. I am sure there are moccasins, but I haven't seen any there. Saw some gator eyes paddling out. A few bullfrogs too. I need to get back out there and stick some. https://www.sportsmans.com/camping-...or-10-angler-sit-inside-kayaks/p/1521298

Nice lookin bird. Shoot from the boat or are you on a hummock? In this particular marsh there's almost always a place to get out and set up a shooting stool. I am not a great shotgunner, and even worse when seated. I like to be able to stand up.

Should make it eleven dekes...even numbers aren't very good luck... I had an 11th. It was a motorized wiggle butt. It died on me. I need to replace it with some kind of motion set up.

It's a duck that gets a kayak ride back to the launch.

You should mount it, and then take it to a taxidermist.

You should mount it, and then take it to a taxidermist. Gross, it's not even warm anymore.

Congrats on killing a duck. It is a big one. My heart was racing when it swam by. You water-swatted it? Nice Redhead anyway. I was wondering where they went. Didn't figure them to be that far south by now. I have an Old Towne 14' Predator that I use for skinny water. Scull with it too. Good boats.
