Update on the Sig Scope testing trials...My new Sig 3-18x44 tactical scope is in the hands of a Fire member who we all know has the skills to properly wring a scope out, and give us an unbiased opinion of his findings...
The results will be known after our member has had the opportunity to perform the initial tests of the scope on a rifle (not a playground) for tracking, return to zero, and zero retention from a “gulp” drop test....
If the initial basic tests show promise. Our member will run the scope during a competition for an actual field trial....More will come from our tester once he has finished beating the hell out of my scope.
Here again are the Sig Sauer Scopes I have purchased.
Sig Tango6 3-18x44 HellFire Illuminated Reticle
Sig Whiskey5 3-15x44 HellFire Illuminated Reticle
Sig Whiskey5 5-25x52 HellFire Illuminated Reticle
None of the three scopes would be considered lightweights with their weights ranging from almost 32oz for the Tango6 to 29oz for the Whiskey5 5x52, and a paltry 25oz for the Whiskey5 3-15x44.
I liked what I had read from independent reviews on these scopes, and from a small sampling of Fire Members who actually shoot a lot, twist turrets, and own them. I decided to give a few of them a home on some rifles.
My hope is that should the field test comes back positive, “aside from weight,” which isn’t ever a deal breaker for me...
You may have another option when looking for a scope that has excellent clarity, coupled with solid mechanics at a price point about the same as a SWFA 3-15x42 or a used Leupold VX6.
Now we wait....😎
