My preferred cheap utility hunting, leave in the truck pack, knife is the Cold Steel Pendleton Lite, but lots of people seem to like Moras for that job. I haven't bought a Mora knife for years and wondered what guys who like Moras recommend.

Mora Stainless Steel blade. The carbon blades rust very quickly with any moisture. They both cut well.

The design of the mora knife is fine, the execution leaves much to be desired. I had one custom made from good O1 steel, with a full tang. Cost a lot more, but then it IS a lot mote.

I personally like the carbon Craftline the best. Cheap, easy to sharpen, and I don't care if they get damaged or lost. Of it rusts some 1000 grit sandpaper or 000 steel wool bring the luster back. I have a Mora 2000 and Garberg (both stainless) which have a very nice handle but see little use.

I usually gift a stainless mora craftline when I take someone hunting for the first time.

Mora Kansbol. Stainless and its thin and slicy. Good lightweight blade thats a little more money but its good for food prep, animal takedown and lightnfield tasks. I have a Kansbol and Laplander pocketsaw and some form of multitool or swiss army knife. That does a lot of tasks.

I have a couple of Companions (I think that is their name) in my truck tool box. If you are not using them for pry bars they will do anything you need done.

The companions with carbon steel blades at $16 a pop are great knives and sharpen easy. They're the knives I give to first timers I get started. The single bevel is also easy to show them how to sharpen too.
